At Tipaskan Educational Daycare, our primary objective is to provide high-quality early childhood education and care in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. We are dedicated to fostering each child’s development and well-being through a warm, welcoming atmosphere that supports their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.
Our approach is grounded in developmentally appropriate practices and strong, respectful connections with families and the wider community. We aim to inspire a lifelong love of learning, encourage independence, and nurture a strong sense of self-worth in every child.
We embrace cultural diversity and promote social responsibility, preparing children not only for academic success but also for meaningful participation in their communities. Through strong partnerships with families, we are committed to delivering exceptional care and education that lays a solid foundation for each child’s future.
At Tipaskan Educational Daycare, we believe that people are our greatest asset. That’s why we exclusively hire highly skilled, passionate, and knowledgeable early childhood educators to lead and deliver our programs. We know that a strong, dedicated team is the foundation for creating meaningful learning experiences and long-lasting impact in the lives of children.
Our exceptional staff—alongside our centre’s directors—work together to build a home-away-from-home environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow. Our educators are more than caregivers; they are mentors and role models who foster creativity, independence, curiosity, and a deep respect for each child’s emotional, physical, and social development.
All our educators and childcare professionals hold formal qualifications in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and certified childcare safety training. We value inclusivity and believe that the competence and commitment of our team are critical to delivering high-quality, inclusive programming for every child.
To support this commitment, we ensure that all staff members receive:
1. Our daycare staff is qualified with diplomas or certifications in Early Childhood Education (ECE), valid First Aid and CPR training, and thorough background checks, including criminal record and vulnerable sector screenings. Many of our educators also hold additional training in inclusive practices, child development, and behavior guidance.
2. Comprehensive Orientation – Covering our centre’s philosophy, mission, policies, expectations, responsibilities, individual child needs, and health & safety protocols.
3. Ongoing Professional Development – Focused on diverse areas such as curriculum planning, child development, current laws and regulations, inclusive practices, and building strong family partnerships.
We also strictly follow Alberta’s child care licensing regulations regarding staff-to-child ratios:
- 1:3 infants(0 month-12 months)
- 1:4 – Infants (12 month to 19 months)
- 1:6 – Toddlers (19 months to 3 years)
- 1:8 – Preschoolers (3 years to 4 years)
- 1:10 – Kindergarten-age children (4.5 to 6 years)
- 1:15 – School-age children (Grades 1 to 6)
This structure ensures that every child receives the individualized attention, guidance, and support they need to thrive.
At Tipaskan Educational Daycare, our curriculum is rooted in play-based, child-centered approaches that support each child’s learning and development in a holistic and meaningful way. We proudly implement Alberta’s FLIGHT: Early Learning and Care Framework, alongside an emergent curriculum model, to nurture curiosity, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
FLIGHT CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK
The FLIGHT curriculum is a comprehensive, research-based framework that encourages children to explore, discover, and grow in responsive environments. It supports the development of children’s natural learning dispositions while promoting:
- Well-being
- Playfulness
- Communication and literacy
- Social responsibility
This curriculum emphasizes the importance of relationships, continuity of care, and family collaboration, especially during key transitions in a child’s life. Educators are seen as co-researchers, co-learners, and co-imaginers of possibilities, working alongside children and families to co-create meaningful learning experiences.
EMERGENT CURRICULUM
Our emergent curriculum is a dynamic, child-initiated approach that evolves from the interests, ideas, and questions of the children themselves. Through daily observations, educators thoughtfully plan activities and projects that respond to children’s natural curiosity and developmental needs.
Key features of the emergent curriculum include:
- Child-led exploration and project work
- Visible learning through documentation
- Collaboration with families
- Promotion of critical thinking, problem-solving, and independence
Documentation plays a vital role in making learning visible. Educators regularly share progress and insights with families, ensuring transparency and a strong home-center connection.
Together, these two frameworks guide our practice in creating rich, responsive learning environments where children feel valued, capable, and confident. Our goal is to support not only academic readiness but also emotional resilience, social awareness, and a genuine enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
Discover a place where your child can grow, learn, and play in a safe and loving environment. Our dedicated team is here to support your family every step of the way.
